Get hyped because this is the big one!! No semester at UQ is complete without hitting Moreton island, so get ready for probably the best long weekend of your life!! It is an awesome weekend of camping, sailing, swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and partying!
So, The details!
This trip is for ALL sailing experience levels! We will be taking turns sailing off the beach, and every boat comes with an experienced skipper!
Catch the short ferry across Moreton Bay to the calm and secluded paradise that is the Wrecks at Moreton. Sail and explore the island on your own terms, surf the nearby sand dunes, snorkel the wrecks, and don’t forget to join the rest of the crew for a sunset beach party!
We will be setting sail to Moreton Island on Sunday the 25th of September, returning on Tuesday the 27th.
First Release: $149

This is a members only event, so if you’re not a member, you’ll need to sign up as well to get your ticket!
We here at UQ Sail like to take care of our crew-mates – so we’ve got you covered.
So all you need to do is enjoy yourself! (good crew mates help out once or twice with cooking and cleaning though).
You do need to organise a few essentials which will include things like;
Alcohol is not provided by UQ SAIL or for sale on the island. If you choose to bring alcohol we encourage you to drink responibly!

We will be getting the bus to Port of Brisbane at 7am on Sunday, returning to Brisbane around 1pm on Tuesday. From the port we will be catching the ferry over to Tangalooma Wrecks. Stay tuned on your ticket for the exact pickup spot!
If you have not already done so in the past, you must complete a swim assessment before attending the event. You can do so for free at the UQ pool on any Tuesday or Thursday between 10am-12pm or on any Sunday between 1pm – 2pm. This is a compulsory requirement for all UQ water sports, and requires you to swim 400m (untimed) and tred water for 2 minutes supervised by a lifeguard. Please be aware, if you have not done the swim assessment, you are not allowed to sail. Once you have completed it, please provide your details here: http://uqsail.com/swim-assessment/

A confirmation email with further details will be sent out closer to the weekend.
No experience is necessary we have experienced skippers who attend and are more than happy to show you the ropes.
We are taking all precautions to ensure our event is COVID Safe. We are in constant communication with UQ Sport and taking all recommendations from QLD Health. If you have travelled from interstate, experienced COVID symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has, please contact the exec and do not attend the event. Moreton Island Adventure is only available to members, so make sure you are signed in and have a current membership to sign up! If you are not a member or your membership has expired you can join the team here!!
I have already done the swim assessment in the past, I will do the swim assessment at the UQ pool before the event during the specified times
